HARD OUT HERE FOR A MOOC: 5.2 million students are opting for the online courses, a 3.7% increase on last year–the slowest growth rate yet, according to the 12th annual survey of online learning from the Babson Survey Research Group and Pearson. The survey polled 2,800 academic leaders, and found that while 70.8% report online learning as essential to long-term strategy, distrust of lasting legitimacy of MOOC degrees still prevails: only 27.6% of respondents said their faculty “accept the value and legitimacy of online education.”
